The “Lying” Argument Could Backfire on Democrats
Over the last few years, Democrats and the media have done all they could to label President Donald Trump as a liar. Their aim: destroy any semblance of credibility the president has with the American people. Among the liberal base, the narrative has stuck, and the accusation is spread as truth no matter what the president says.
It’s a dangerous and risky strategy if the Trump campaign catches on and turns the tables on both the media and Democrats. On Sunday, September 13, the New York Times released a hit piece, claiming Trump “told nearly six times as many falsehoods as Obama did during his entire (8-year) presidency.Perhaps it was their own beloved President Obama who struggled with the truth when it mattered. Before he left office, the revisionist historians were already declaring Obama’s presidency as the most scandal-free in modern US history.
Does anyone remember Obamacare, spying on Americans, and supporting drug cartels?
Obamacare Built on a Lie
It was Obama who said if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan. This was in spite of knowing it wasn’t true; Obama and his lackeys in the administration purposely misled America.
Then, there’s this quote from MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, who helped write the bill:
“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically, that was really, really critical to get this thing to pass.”
NSA Spies on Americans and Obama Lies About It
Then, there were the revelations from Edward Snowden. The National Security Agency (NSA) was collecting massive volumes of personal data on Americans, and Snowden, for better or worse, exposed it. Obama went on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno of all places to flippantly say there was no spying on Americans. However, that wasn’t true. The parameters were so broad that one could be considered a “terrorist suspect” based on innocent Google searches.
Assault Weapons to Drug Cartels Covered Up
How about this one… while calling for a renewal of the assault weapon ban, Obama said 90% of the guns the US government recovered were from Mexico. What he failed to say is the majority of those weapons came from an operation by the Alcohol, Tobaccos, Firearms (AFT) agency titled Fast and Furious. The US government put weapons into the hands of drug cartels, and those guns ended back up on the streets of US cities.
These are issues that mattered, and yet the media conveniently forgets the eight years of Obama’s lies. Perhaps the former president felt he had legitimate reasons to lie? Maybe he didn’t want to create riots? Regardless, the media and Democrats accuse Trump of lying and yet fail to remember that their guy once lied over concerns that really mattered to people’s health, financial well-being, and personal safety.
The New York Times says Trump’s credibility deserves to be condemned. Where were they for the eight years of Obama’s presidency? Somehow, it’s okay for them to lie, and by going after Trump, it somehow makes the lies of the past seem like they never existed.
The Democrats and the media are playing a dangerous game with the truth.
