Progressives, Thou Shalt Not Steal

As a child, I owned very little, but what I owned was mine, and what others owned was not to be stolen or even touched without their permission.  Only later did I understand how important this principle of ownership was to the survival of mankind.

One of the primal human instincts is possession.  From an early age, humans construct a mental world based on what is "mine" and "not mine," and much of life is devoted to amassing and enjoying — and defending — our possessions.  Not just material possessions, but status, relationships, and the freedom and security that accompany affluence.

Those on the left downplay the importance of this instinct, but it is closely connected with human happiness and survival itself — far more so than any Green New Deals or fake infrastructure spending, which are simply massive thefts from taxpaying Americans to liberal politicians and their welfare and corporate clients.

Watching JV-Team-Biden destroy our credibility abroad, flood our towns with illegal aliens and unscreened Afghani refugees, and print greenbacks faster than Prez Mitty can spin up tales about his innumerable alter-egos, you thought you had seen it all.  Then our nation’s highest-ranking military officer casually fessed up to committing at least one act of what some have called treason.  Who could blame you for cashing out and caving in?  But I say take heart.  The tonic I offer is an observation I found in a century-old work by an obscure Frenchman who dissects the perennial beast we’re up against and exposes its Achilles heel.

Democrats are becoming concerned over a growing characterization depicting them as "evil." They genuinely do not understand how they earned this moniker and feel it is an unfair accusation. Let's see if we can sort this out.

For something or someone to be evil, it has to be "profoundly immoral and malevolent." This means their perspective of the world and its governing precepts are at odds with the status quo, e.g., the acceptable form of behavior. This means an evil person is willing to wrong, cheat, defraud, bear false witness, plot foul play, threaten, or render harm onto others.
