America Needs ‘Founders’ Nationalism’
America was founded upon Judeo-Christian values. Some today are not happy with that fact, but it is a fact, nonetheless. And inherent in those values is freedom of religion — and not just the Jewish and Christian religions, but all religions — as well as the freedom from religion. As John Adams stated, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
True liberty requires a moral code, like the Ten Commandments, and encouragement to “love your neighbor as yourself.” And these ideas guided our Founders who did not declare the country a “Christian nation.” They did not see it as such. They saw it as “a new nation conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”
