Bite 6) US Government Invades Wall of Church Separation:
In the past US Government made social security and option for churches. The fact is that 80% of the organizations did participate in it voluntarily. Still, in 1984 the government forced the other 20% to participate and raised taxes calling it contributions. This actually made the churches tax collectors for the government by authorizing them to collect a 7% increase from their workers. This knocked the wall of separation of church and state as flat as a picket fence in a tornado! Some 5,000 pastors have said they will resist the social security requirement and announced they are prepared to go to jail if necessary. What is this country coming to when Nebraska Baptists are jailed for teaching their children and are prepared to go to jail to maintain the integrity of church and state separation? The government is guilty of trying to reform social security by patching it together by a bunch of petty regulations and higher taxes to bail out their own system. The government is guilty of pushing Christians into a corner and won’t stop pushing until there is some resistance. the government took pray and Bible reading out of school and nothing has been done about it. Now (1986) government is putting people in jail for supporting christian education. Now government is forcing new and higher taxes, in the name of social security, for the first time in American History! What’s next? When will the government padlock church doors who won’t go along with everything the government demands????
Bite 7) US Government Calling Wrong “right.”
Are we expected to follow along like sheep to the slaughter to this coming government slaughter of religion in America? Make no mistake about it. Religious Liberty in America is being threatened by US Government! The liberal national news media tried to make a big deal in the recent election (1984) campaign about religion taking over the government but the truth is that government is trying to take over religion. Here are some examples as exposed to media myths: ---- A church in Oklahoma was sued because it dared to follow their church doctrine and discipline one of the members who confessed to going against their doctrine.---- Another example is the National Labor relations Board taking jurisdiction over some of the employees of the Roman Catholic Diocese in chicago. ---- The Federal Government won suit in the Bob Jones University case to limit tax of religious organizations that disagree with Supreme Court Decisions on moral issues. ---- The Internal Revenue Service is making a series of burdensome audits in churches and christian organizations. ----- In light of recent Supreme Court decisions, Catholics and other christian organizations are being threatened because of refusal to ordain women, calling it sex discrimination. --- Recent tax cases brought by IRS threatens freedom of religious groups to raise funds and speak out in favor of legislation on their own behalf, even forbidding church leaders to hold trust funds for their own members.
Bite 8) US Government Sabotages US Schools:
The most controversial of all church and state relations is in the field of education when the government has set itself up as the superior educator for society, including their godless belief that prayer and Bible reading have no place in education. (The whole reason public school started was to teach morality and principles from the Bible. Benjamin Rush was youngest signer of Constitution. Ask me for a copy of his letter: PL Sturgis) The government is making it extremely hard for christians who want to start their own schools and who believe tuition tax credits should be government policy relieving christians of double taxation to support public schools when their children do not attend public schools. Church members have been harrassed and threatened by government agents and law enforcement authorities for trying to educate their own children in their own homes where they can teach christian values and Bible truths. In Nebraska, church leaders were arrested and thrown in jail for operating a school which Nebraska Education authorities claimed did not meet their state standards. The government was the first aggressor in denying prayer and Bible reading in the public schools. Now churches have become aggressive in asserting their right to educate their children in morals and values. The churches and religious organizations must rely on the power of prayer and power of God to help them. Not all government officials are anti religious. The assistant to US Attorney General went on record saying, “Christians have serious reservations about our public schools. Religion is too often treated as if it were bad for your health!” Government tyranny is trying to take over religion:
Bite 9) Like the Jericho Walls:
Just like the walls of Jericho tumbled when Joshua blew his trumpet, the wall of separation keeping the state out of God’s Church, has begun to tumble down, since the Pawtucket, Rhode Island Nativity Scene case. The leftist liberal news media and the humanist politicians and organizations have kept, what they call “low profile” on that decision by the Supreme Court, but the fact is that the case---in full reading---has a tremendous impact on church and state association...not separation. First, there is no wording in the Constitution separating church and state. The news media and the humanists have been using that term as propaganda. The First Amendment says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” The first Amendment prohibits congress and not the state’s cities from establishing religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. In 1940 the Supreme court construed the 14th Amendment some 70 years after it was passed to extend the First Amendment wording to the states and to congress. Now the Supreme court construes it the other way and says according to Justice Berger, to forbid its use would be an over reaction to our history as the constitution does not require a complete separation of church and state. It mandates accommodations and forbids hostility to any religion. Then the Justice Brennan said the Nativity Scene is an insult to other religions since the story of Christ is in no way a part of our heritage. Well, no matter what any Supreme Court justice says... Christ is a part of our national history and heritage. We are a Judeo Christian Nation!
Bite 10) USA: A Judeo Christian Nation:
God is mentioned specifically in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution. The President and every government official takes the Oath of Office while his hand is on the Bible. “In god we Trust” is engraved in every coin and placed on all our money. Thanks Giving Day and Christmas is a national Holiday. God is mentioned in the Pledge of Allegiance. chaplains are employed by the Armed Forces. Congress opens every session with prayer. Christians have been at the heart and center of the national government leadership and national development throughout its history. Government is of God. The Apostle Paul’s inspired words in 1 Corinthians 12:28 says, “God has set some in church, in apostles, teachers, gifts of healing, government, and diversity of tongues.” Isaiah 9:6: “Unto us a child is born; a Son is given and the government shall be on His shoulders: His Name shall be Wonderful Counselor: The Mighty God: The Everlasting Father: The Prince of Peace:” Without God there would be no government. Dictatorship is not government. Government is for the people and not one man’s glorification! Government is not made for satanic use meant for tyranny and murder! In America we need to pray for our leaders, whoever they are. When we have elected them we need to pray that God will provide them with wisdom to govern justly. Prayers sustain--- and America---and prayer---are both of God. If America is to survive there will be no separation of the Church from the state.
