OPINIONS BY LIBERTY LADY - 09/24/2021, THE HISTORY OF WARFARE

LADY LIBERTY AND HER THOUGHT'S

LADY LIBERTY

MY THOUGHTS ON THE HISTORY OF WARFARE

I have a different take on the nature of warfare than most contemporaries; it may be because I am using a VERY long view of human history, going back 1000s of years.

Warfare is USEFUL for humans -- it forces challenges, and forces innovation and productive social change, and also clears out the deadwood from stagnant leadership.

MODERN warfare has changed all of that. Beginning in 1914, and especially with the development of nuclear weapons and other mass destruction devices, warfare has become too destructive.

Therefore: if I could go back in time, I would definitely seek to abolish nuclear weapons, before they were ever invented. They have been the cause of a great stagnation in human development.

The Afghan Taliban did NOT 'whoop' the USA -- it simply displaced the feeble Afghan military, and the USA did not rush back in to save the Afghan military.

'Love' is grotesquely misunderstood in the modern world, because it has been redefined. Now, it is interpreted to mean something like 'free sex' with a Disney theme... the Princess syndrome.

That's not love -- that is infatuation and self-indulgence.
It is no more 'love' than homosexuality is 'happy' (gay).

What is TRUE 'love'? It is some level of dependency, which may mature into respect. Take away the respect, and there is no true love.

Fear is NOT death. Death is death. Fear is an overwrought attempt to prevent death, which is absurd because death cannot be avoided.

We are all going to die because we are all mortal.
I would counsel that a wise man accepts that one day he will die, so therefore he is wise to 'speak' beyond his lifetime with the works he has done in his life -- these may be his family or his works or deeds.

A wise man, knowing that he is mortal, also accepts that he has limits -- so he does not conduct himself like a fool or live a life of lies and injustice. It, therefore, comes to him that he recognizes some arbiter of limits, which may be 'God'... or maybe his own principles.

Either way, a man has limits, and he must adapt himself to what he has, and to the world, not the other way around.

Outer Space is useful because it is HARD (to paraphrase JFK).
My ancestors crossed the Atlantic; that took guts, and drive, and self-reliance, and innovation. The process of building better ships was one that had many advantages throughout Europe, and by those advantages, Europe thrived.

In 1492, Columbus made a voyage in 3 TINY ships. Within 300 years, better ships crossed the whole world, using technology and skills that were developed... but would not have been, if someone back in 1492 had not had enough guts to risk such a voyage across an unknown ocean.

Part of accepting LIMITS is to realize that humans... are what they are. Adapt yourself to that... don't try and alter humans to fit your notions of how they ought to be. That is the path of communism and nazism.

You want to be the world's caretaker. I do NOT.
Why not?

It is because it is a 'Tower of Babel' problem. By feeding the homeless, you encourage more homelessness.
The best thing that the world could do for Africa, etc,... is to let Africa fix Africa. They have to help themselves so that they become capable human beings, not servile dogs.

I wonder what she thought As she stood there, strong and tall. She couldn't turn away, She was forced to watch it all. Did she long to offer comfort As her country bled? With her arm forever frozen High above her head. She could not shield her eyes, She could not hide her face She just stared across the water Keeping Freedom's place. The smell of smoke and terror Somehow reduced her size So small within the harbor But still, we recognized... How dignified and beautiful On a day so many died I wonder what she thought, And I know she must have cried.
