These Are The Times That Try Men's Souls
While many are using this time at home with the virus spread to do some spring cleaning around their homes, wouldn’t this also be a great time to open our “spiritual closets” and take a close examination? Are they filled with the FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD OF HEAVEN or cluttered with the ways of the world that cause trouble and pain and hurt and division?
As we prepare for the celebration of Passover and Easter, the glorious day celebrating the RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST FROM THE DEAD, should we not focus on our spiritual wellness? Are we living humbly in Christ or proud of ourselves? Do we place God’s commands over the ways of the world? Are we guarding ourselves and our families from the evil ones seeking to destroy us and devour us? Are we Christian soldiers for the Lord, our families, our church or have we become the leader of our own ways that follow our lusts and flesh and pleasures? Is God our “I AM” or have we made our own rules of reign and ourselves “god” and worship the idols of money, objects, other people?
Maybe you need to take a good, hard look at what you are holding on to and what you need to let go of and take it out by the foot of the Cross. No matter how tightly you think you have that closet door closed, God sees and knows all that is inside. He’s waiting for you to come and seek his washing, regeneration, justification, sanctification, SAVING from the world’s disease of sin and destruction. If you’ve been closing the closet door and ignoring its “mess,” don’t you think it wise to prioritize your sin-sick soul? Funny how many sinful souls celebrate the term “coming out of the closet” in their soul disease. Oh, the destruction of a person in sin pride. Don’t join the world in celebrating sin. Take the narrow path to the Cross with all your messy living to the Lord, be cleansed and be filled with Christ, living to honor him in relationships, in your family, your work, with your friends and in God’s church.
With this virus among us, with this sickness and focus on our physical health and cleanliness, we need to remember the whole body AND SOUL in “sanitizing.” If you have a Bible at home, make sure and take that off the shelf and use its MESSAGE to cover yourself as you walk in this sin-diseased world. If you don’t have a Bible, make your way to that store, to that “isle,” and bring home and open and use its contents to clean up your soul. Share that soul sanitizer with your family that they may know its healing and restoration for their lives.
Prepare yourselves for the COMING OF THE LORD! Be clean and presentable before the Lord!
