Yankees, Flyers Dump Kate Smith’s “God Bless America”
Back in 1939, Kate Smith recorded a stirring rendition of God Bless America — it later became a mainstay of the seventh inning stretch at Yankee Stadium after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The Philadelphia Flyers invited the famed singer to perform the song in 1969 and was so well-loved she was invited back several times. There’s even a statue of the famed singer near the Wells Fargo Center.
But that could change – The Yankees and the Flyers say they will no longer play the song – and her statue has been covered up with a black tarp.
It seems Ms. Smith recorded other songs in the 1930s that included offensive references to African-Americans.
“The Yankees are investigating these claims and there are some conflicting notions regarding the song ‘That’s Why Darkies Were Born,’ in particular, because it was considered satire at the time and recorded with African-American artist Paul Robeson,” the New York Daily News reported. “Still, her shocking lyrics from 1939 are neither humorous nor ironic in 2019 – and the Yankees acted swiftly.”
The singer died in 1986 so she is unable to defend herself from the culture jihadists. And it’s not exactly clear why this is even a controversy since the songs have been around for more than 80 years.
The Yankees said they take social, racial and cultural insensitivities seriously — They say have not reached a final decision on Kate Smith’s rendition – but they decided to err on the side of sensitivity.
And by sensitivity, they mean political correctness.

Kate Smith’s singing of “God Bless America” is so powerful! I believe that people who want to destroy this woman’s legacy has one purpose: to remove Patriotism from true Americans. Muslims want to destroy our love and Patriotism for this nation. At the same time, so do the Globalists, Democrats, Luciferians, Satanists, the Left, and the Liberals. Most people don’t remember that time when people were Patriots, we said the Pledge of Allegiance each day at school, the “Star Spangled Banner” was played when groups came together.
