Indicted Russian Spy Met With Obama’s U.S. Treasury, Fed Officials
According to sources, Butina took part in at least one high-level meeting with Obama's Treasury vice chairman and undersecretary.
An alleged Russian spy who has been in the United States for years reportedly met with at least two senior officials in former President Barack Obama‘s administration on two separate occasions, according to Reuters. The new report is a major backfire for the unproven Trump-Russia collusion theories and shows that the indicted Russian spy has a big Obama administration secret.
Maria Butina, who was accused by the United States earlier this month of being a spy for Russia with supposed links to the NRA, allegedly took part in a 2015 meeting with a Russian official, Stanley Fischer — then vice chairman of the Federal Reserve, and Nathan Sheets — then Treasury undersecretary for international affairs.
As many Democrats and liberal media figures claim Butina was a Russian spy working to help the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election — despite no evidence to support the claim — it appears the alleged Russian spy took part in at least two high-level meetings with Obama’s Treasury vice chairman and undersecretary.
In April 2015, Butina took part in two meetings with Fischer and Sheets to discuss the Obama administration’s stance toward improving U.S.-Russian economic relations.
The mere fact that an alleged Russian spy was present in these meetings with top Obama officials underscores how the previous administration was hardly concerned with Russian interference and arguably took very little action to counteract the threat.
The report states that around 2013 to 2015, Butina and other Russians were actively working to lobby the Obama administration to ease tensions with Russia.
Assuming the reports are accurate, a former Russian spy spent roughly two years working to convince the Obama administration to have a better relationship with Russia. Her efforts were apparently far more successful than many have admitted and reported, as she was engaged in at least two high-level meetings with Obama’s Treasury vice chairman and undersecretary.
The report is particularly explosive because Butina was arrested and jailed last week until her trail after the U.S. government determined that she has ties to senior Russian intelligence officials.
She has pleaded not guilty to charges of being a foreign agent for Russia, but it raises serious questions about the supposed “collusion” arguments from many on the Left.
While the special counsel and FBI have collectively spent two years investigating President Donald Trump for alleged collusion with Russia, which has not resulted in any evidence of wrongdoing from the president, many are reasonably wondering why this story is not dominating the national conversation.At least two top Obama administration officials had two meetings with an indicted Russian spy, and the mainstream media seems to be downplaying this extraordinary event.
