Attorney General William Barr Tells President Trump To Stop Tweeting

William Barr Tells Donald Trump To Stop Tweeting!

U.S. Attorney General William Barr surprised Trump supporters all over the country on Thursday when he suggested that the president should stop tweeting about certain ongoing cases.
In a surprising comment made to Pierre Thomas of ABC News, Barr said, “I think it’s time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases.”

The suggestion didn’t go down well with many of those who appreciate the president’s honesty on social media.

Barr sat down with Pierre Thomas for a 25-minute interview in which they discuss the ongoing Roger Stone case. The Attorney General used the time to defend President Trump, explicitly stating, “he has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case.”

The interview was big news as his comments were the first time that Barr has publicly disagreed with the president. However, the suggestion that the president shouldn’t be commenting on certain cases has resonated with many Republicans in Washington D.C. who fear that the president’s comments may sometimes make it look like he is exerting inappropriate influence.

Thomas recognized the potential implications of criticizing the President of the United States, asking Barr if he was prepared for the consequences. Barr replies, “of course” and explained he believed it was the “right thing to do.”

“I’m not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody…whether it’s Congress, a newspaper editorial board, or the president,” he said.

“I’m gonna do what I think is right. And you know, I cannot do my job here at the department with a constant background commentary that undercuts me.”

Ouch!

It’s hard to claim Barr is completely out of line when he has been such a fierce defender of the president, as well as general fairness. But, it doesn’t seem to have upset the president in the slightest.
The White House officially announced on Thursday that the president isn’t “bothered” by the comments. White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham told Fox, “The president wasn’t bothered by the comments at all and he has the right, just like any American citizen, to publicly offer his opinions.”
