Who Is John Dean? |
Audience members at a House Judiciary Committee hearing responded positively after Rep. Jim Jordan went after Watergate lawyer John Dean for his past criticisms of President Trump.
“So I’m just wondering, what were you thinking about when you said he was incapable of accomplishing anything?” the Ohio Republican asked Dean in response to him stating, prior to the meeting, that Trump has not accomplished anything.
“Mr. Jordan, I think that under the parliamentary rules of the House, I’m refrained from addressing a full answer to your question,” Dean said.
Some in the audience responded to Dean's answer with laughter.
“You haven't refrained in your tweets,” Jordan responded.
Dean continued protesting that his tweets were not subject to questioning from Jordan.
Jordan began his grilling of Dean by reading off a list of critical comments Dean had made against Trump, including claims he talked to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi about impeachment, a list of Trump nicknames, and stating that Trump was "incapable of accomplishing anything."
Jordan then read a list of Trump's accomplishments before asking him about what he meant by saying Trump was incapable of accomplishing anything.
After the audience laughed at Dean's answer, Jordan continued hammering Dean for his guilty plea in regards to obstruction of justice.
Dean was the former Nixon White House counsel and eventually flipped after pleading guilty to a felony count.
