Even the official magazine of the National training Laboratories, the Journal of Applied Behavioral Scientists, admits that some of the popular sensitivity groups which employ dance like movements, forms of wrestling, nudity, caressing, and weird experiences, have created a negative reaction. It relates that some clergymen have become aware of extra marital sensitivity in others which has disrupted homes and caused nervous break downs due to the stress of the adulterous intimacy. Also a professor of social work (of all people) has publicly rejected sensitivity activities which do not have a definite program. However, Esalen and other experimental centers continue to attract eager participants. According to the National training Laboratories Journal this may be where the trouble lies. Too often sensitivity trainers with little professional responsibility are using new techniques which border on party games and Roman orgies. The Journal states that the by products of those unprofessional activities hurt the whole movement of applied Behavioral Sciences because there is really no science in the operation. This criticism is highly significant since it is taken from the official journal of the National Training Laboratories Institute of applied behavioral sciences. there is an obvious concern over the sensitivity practitioners who are getting all the publicity. As a last note we are very pleased to read: “Feeling therapy, nude therapy, marathon therapy, and other new group remedies for the ailing psychos were attacked yesterday (NY Times February 1969) by Leaders of the American group Psychotherapy Association. S. R. Slaveson, founder of the Professional Association, told the Association’s national conference at the Statler Hotel., that these therapists were untested, theoretically weak, and potentially dangerous, to some persons. He said they apply for an arena of release of pent up feelings that can not be denied but obviously these are border line psychotics with ego control and defenses may, under the stress of such groups, jump the barrier between sanity and insanity. Sensitivity training is medically irresponsible for it involves very intense experiences which may have disastrous results! It is anti-intellectual with an emphasis on gut! (emotion over mind) It is dehumanizing and encourages an abnormal love for one’s own body and a glorification of emotionalized decisions. It may encourage sexual play and most certainly encourages revolution of the most intimate details of a person’s life. Unquestionably, it is an invasion of privacy. Participants advertize themselves through confessions to the group about the most private matters of their bodies, emotions and thoughts. Sensitivity procedures can readily be used to create receptively to brain washing! (to be continued) The Most Immediate Threat:

Sensitivity Training is not some obscure psychological procedure! It is an insidious methodology which aims to destroy the traditional Hebrew Christian Morality of America! If such practices are successfully put into general use we will be made receptive to the New world and Orwell’s “1984” which is so frighteningly and prophetically warned.
