Gordon V. Drake holds a doctorate in higher education and administration from the University of Denver and a Masters Degree from the Northern University of Arizona. Dr. drake’s articles on education have appeared in various national magazines. As a teacher and administrator Dr. Drake served on the faculties of the Universities of Denver, Wisconsin State University and as Dean of Shelton College. In 1964 he won an award from the Commission of the American Legion for his teaching of American History. Since January of 1968 Dr. Drake has associated with Dr. Billy James Hargis and the Christian Crusade Headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Sex Education Council of US (SIECUS) is discussed in detail in Dr. Gordon V. Drake’s book, “Is the School house the Proper Place to teach raw Sex?” Dr. Gordon Drake is Head of the Department of Education. For example, in a study of 30 colleges and universities which offered sex education work shops, or institutes for preparing teachers in sex education, during the summer of 1968, over half indicated that the sensitivity training has been a large part of the offering (stated in a newspaper 1968) for training teachers explicitly for sex education. There is no question that the federally funded programs provide organizational know how and close supervision. The effects of these programs have been nation wide in scope. Sensitivity training attacks individuality and personal values according to the intent and purpose of the person in charge. Star Bulletin (Honolulu) 12/20/1968... “Our training program has not been participated by Dr. McPhee, who states he doesn’t care to know about himself. He says the program does not appeal to him. Sort of makes you wonder where his allegiance lies.” (unquote: Can you imagine publishing a comment like this to insult a qualified teacher? This is shameful but not as shameful as misguiding children with this corruptible training. PL sturgis) Teachers in a suburban high school have volunteered to undergo sensitivity training for after school hours. the superintendent hopes to open an expanding program for the (so called) unqualified teachers who feel these programs attack the student’s individuality and personal values. A case in point was the experience of the teenagers in ?Evanston, Illinois, involved in sensitivity training sessions. According to the Chicago Tribune, Wednesday, January 22,1969, several high school seniors took part in games in student’s homes where Tom Klien, a 27 year old high school teacher, had them crawl around on the floor wrapped in blankets and identify each other by touch. Some students experienced serious psychological effects. Following an intense session one girl had hysterics. Several girls said they were unable to sleep that night. They found one boy who had taken part in the session wandering around several blocks from his home at 3 AM. He had no recollection of getting out of bed and leaving his home. Another boy told about being in a trance. the teacher, Tom Klien, admitted he was in a training at a two week end session by the National Training Laboratories International in Stone Branded center and also Lake Hotel Highland Park sponsored by the National Training Laboratories Institute. One mother who did not like the idea of her son participating in these Sensitivity Training sessions, admitted her son had become less shy and almost rebellious since attending these sessions. It was reported that the students who took part in these programs were in favor of them and extremely protective of their teacher. One girl threatened to leave home if her parents didn’t approve of her taking these sessions. The young intellectual rebels may visualize the sensitivity sessions as a challenge to do the things that are unacceptable to society in general and therefore, it is a protest action worthy of his indulgences. At the university of California an off campus course was conducted for men and women. The students disrobed and held hands for sensory awareness. An article in the United Press related that a disrobing occurred at a private home where a dozen students attended a sensitivity training course called: “Educating the Community” #30 Re-evaluating Education by Community Standards:
Several years ago (from 1969) a class was held at the free University in Philadelphia. The nude marathon class was held in his home, by a Professor of the University of Pennsylvania, who claimed the experience brought people closer together. Nudity is the thing these days on college campuses and in sensitivity training sessions. Related to it is also an event that recently (from 1969) occurred at a Michigan University. A traveling drama company performed a play in which the actors stripped naked fifteen minutes after the play got underway. It is interesting to note that the advanced billing enticingly proclaimed that the actors would kiss and fondle each other from head to toe. this is a sensitivity training procedure titled “Getting to Know You!” Here is the statement of the University President (teaching our kids) He states that academic and professional people regard the play as worthy of serious consideration. Lack of moral integrity by many faculty and college administrators is further illustrated daily by their handling of the riotous events on college campuses throughout the country; by the permissiveness of too many administrators in accepting the demands of a small group of radicals who have no regard for the traditional idealism and moral stance of America.
