America’s Deepening Divide
For the past four years, the Democratic party with the major news media outlets and social media as their sycophants have declared President Trump unfit for office talking of impeachment even before he was inaugurated and vowing to resist anything he might propose while in office. They have continued this campaign for four years focusing on his tweets, his unpleasant personality, his moral shortcomings, his vanity, his racism, and intolerance.
His many accomplishments seem to bring his supposed incompetence into question. His sweeping tax cut in 2017 sent the economy soaring, caused a record drop in unemployment and the poverty rate, and caused the current surge in the stock market. He reformed federal regulations created a new Space Force and rebuilt our sagging military. He increased aid to black colleges and passed a law to get prison parolees back on their feet. Finally, he rolled out the coronavirus vaccine expeditiously under the “Warp Speed” program. All these succeeded despite unrelenting media skepticism or total media blackouts.
When the 80 million people who voted Joe Biden into office take off their rose-colored glasses, they will find they have placed into the highest office of the land a man who has the same attributes as his predecessor and is a political hack of the worst sort to boot. His 40 some years as a senator displayed racial intolerance in 1973 by siding with racist senators like Strom Thurmond and Robert Byrd against integration when he stated his children would be going to school in a jungle. His Stop and Frisk bill in 1994 put increasing numbers of blacks in prison and is now blamed as the start of systemic racism. His gender intolerance was shown when he voted against gays in the military in 1993 and voted against same-sex marriage in 1996.
Now that he is president, his political appointments are rife with cronyism. He is obviously filling positions with people he owes political favors to. He has nominated Denis McDonough, a man who is neither a veteran nor a doctor and has no experience administering an organization this huge to lead the Department of Veteran’ affairs. Susan Rice, a supposed foreign affairs specialist will be in charge of domestic affairs. Pete Buttigieg, a small city mayor, is now to oversee the national transportation department. Xavier Becerra who has no experience in Health and Human Services other than campaigning for “Medicare for all” is to be in charge during a pandemic. His selection for Secretary of Defense falls outside the guidelines of civilian control of the military. Lloyd Austin had a nondescript record as an Army four-star general during the ISIS buildup in Syria and Iraq, retired as a lobbyist for a military contractor, and is now going to return to politics after four years. Government regulations require the person in this position to be out of the military for six years, therefore he needed a waiver.
Biden also did away with several of President Trump's bold international actions. In the midst of a pandemic with the economy flattened, his highest priority is to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord. Europeans such as Germany’s Merkel are thrilled. Why not, U.S. taxpayers pay the bills. This accord had severe financial costs and restrictions imposed by Obama who established unreachable goals for the United States. Even with many environmental restrictions removed by President Trump during the past four years, our air pollution levels, and toxic emissions are at record lows. The United States was one of a few if any other countries that established goals while China got a special arrangement to accept environmental limits by 2030, but only if it feels like it. Meanwhile, China and India are building dozens of coal-fired electrical plants as fast as they can. Biden’s presidential campaign promised to shut down our coal mines and fracking natural gas industry. Fracking is one of the cleanest sources of energy found.
Biden also wants to revive the Iran deal. When President Trump withdrew from this deal, he was able to impose sanctions that crushed Iran’s economy. Because of this Iran is weaker and less of a nuclear threat. Biden will continue the Obama Iran payola scheme wherefrom they will again be funding Islamic terrorism.
Biden’s backing of the proposed Green New Deal is another pie-in-the-sky scheme by politicians with no scientific background. Under Obama, billions of taxpayer dollars were poured into “renewable energy” initiatives such as solar panels and windmills. Windmills never produce the energy equal to the cost of their erection and maintenance. Solar panels have toxic components and require a huge footprint to be effective. When environment experts call for all-electric cars, they never mention the astounding number of batteries required and how they will be manufactured, maintained, charged, and disposed of. Or the fact that the lithium required to build is rarely found in the United States. Perhaps, the government should subsidize the nuclear energy field and look for answers in the cleanest and safest energy source to date.
Biden's first speech after his election was a call for unity and peace. However, the speech did not contain any apology for the previous four years of vitriol aimed at President Trump. Biden’s actions to date enhance the identity politics pushed by the liberals for ethnic rather than performance or policy. Never mind, the public wants competence rather than ticket balancing.
Make no mistake, Biden is only the figurehead for the Democratic party which, in turn, is the front for an unelected governing class. This class is a political corporation composed of liberal academia, highly placed government employees, foreign billionaires, social media owners, major newspapers, and select unions, among others. Their goal is to keep people in their places – the rich at the top and the poor at the bottom repressed by failed programs that perpetuate social dysfunction. The citizens of the United States could have pulled together as they did after 911 when this pandemic spread across the country. Instead, the Democratic party and media used it as a weapon to keep the country divided. Ten democratic governors have imposed draconian lockdowns, especially on small businesses. Democrats continually obsess about income inequality. No act in modern times has widened the gap between rich and poor more than these lockdowns. Black and Latino's families are especially affected as they are overrepresented in the service industries wiped out by shutdowns. So why is the left all in for lockdown policies? Perhaps the answer is that they care more about power than the poor.
