Twitter removes Trump’s ‘photograph’ tweet mocking Biden over copyright issueIt’s a little too late to “Look at this photograph,” but Twitter users who caught President Trump’s Nickelback-inspired tweet Wednesday will not soon forget it.
Twitter took down the tweet, which set a picture of Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and a Ukrainian businessman to the song “Photograph,” after Nickelback complained. The arresting caption read simply, “LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH!”
Trump’s tweet now displays a message that reads, “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.”

Trump has long rattled his critics by defying notions of what it means to be a “presidential” leader, and Wednesday was a case study in Trumpian communication. The tweet capped off an absolutely wild day for President Trump, who started the morning off by savaging the Democrats’ “bullsh*t” impeachment in a tweet. Amid commentary on the left that Trump is growing “unhinged” as Democrats impeach him, the president blasted off what might well have been one of his least “presidential,” and maybe funniest, tweets ever.
The video began with a clip of Biden denying that he had ever spoken with his son, Hunter, about his business dealings in Ukraine. Democrats launched an impeachment inquiry into Trump after the president asked Ukraine’s president to investigate the Bidens for pay-to-play corruption in the European country. Trump has focused his message on attacking Biden as Democrats ramp up their impeachment inquiry.
In the 2005 music video for “Photograph” by Nickelback, vocalist Chad Kroeger approaches the camera with a picture frame and sings, “Look at this photograph / Every time I do it makes me laugh / How did our eyes get so red? / And what the hell is on Joey’s head?” The video has been used to make a variety of memes. In Trump’s version, the video of Joe Biden cuts away to a photograph of Joe, Hunter, and Devon Archer, who is labeled “Ukrainian gas exec,” golfing together in 2014.
For all the jokes directed at Nickelback, which has been the butt of Internet wisecracks in recent years, the best-selling grunge band brought the commander-in-chief to heel with a copyright complaint to Twitter. Warner Bros., which owns the music video, filed a complaint and it was removed. Donald Trump Jr., who often criticizes Big Tech censorship, questioned Twitter’s removal of the tweet on Thursday.
“Not sure why Twitter wouldn’t want you to ‘Look at this Photograph,'” he tweeted.
Trump punches back at impeachment with a mix of humor, rage
President Trump has responded to the Democrats’ impeachment push with typical Trumpian idiosyncrasy. The president has fired back at the anonymous “whistleblower” and the Democrats in a relentless, multi-day fusillade accusing the Democrats of “PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!”
With the impeachment inquiry deepening, Trump has pushed back with a mixture of seething rage and classic Trumpian schadenfreude. At a wild press conference with the president of Finland Wednesday, Trump blasted the Bidens as “stone-cold crooked” and lashed out at the “corrupt” media as he defended his “beautiful” phone call with Ukraine. At times, Trump talked over his Finlandian counterpart and went on extended, stream-of-consciousness rants. The bizarre presser led many in the liberal media to say that Trump was having a meltdown under pressure from the Democrats.
Trump has used mockery to devastating political effect, as when he knocked Jeb Bush out of the 2016 primary almost single-handedly by getting voters to associate him with “low energy.” Democrat Kamala Harris (D-CA) has suggested that Trump’s Twitter account be suspended as the president continues to rage against the “savage” and “DO NOTHING” Democrats.
While Trump has often accused Twitter of censorship, it looks like Joe Biden only has Nickelback to thank for this one.
