Jerome Corsi: FBI Raid Proves 'Deep State Is Out of Control'
Jerome R. Corsi, author of The New York Times bestseller "Killing the Deep State: The Fight to Save President Trump," told Newsmax in an exclusive interview Tuesday afternoon the FBI’s raids on President Donald Trump's longtime attorney Michael Cohen are "a disgrace."
Corsi likened the FBI's tactics to the KGB's methods under the Soviet Union and called for the immediate resignation of FBI special counsel Robert Mueller.
"This raid by Mueller on Michael Cohen validates everything I've written in 'Killing the Deep State: The Fight to Save President Trump,'" Corsi told Newsmax. "It shows we have an out-of-control shadow government that operates by its own rules. And its own rules today include a coup d'etat."
Since the release in March of his new book, Corsi has warned Mueller was set to launch a "wicked attack" on President Trump.
The New York Times reported Monday afternoon the FBI had raided Cohen's law office after "a referral from the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, according to Mr. Cohen's lawyer, who called the search 'completely inappropriate and unnecessary.'"
Sources say the raid was not "directly related" to Mueller's investigation, and might have stemmed from the $130,000 Cohen paid to porn-film actress Stormy Daniels, who claims she had an affair with Trump in 2006.
In the exclusive interview, Corsi called on Mueller to resign and said the FBI had lost its independence. Corsi's book chronicles FBI actions he says are a "smoking gun" of improper activities against the president.
"The way Mueller handled it was to break in on [Cohen] like he was a criminal – he hadn't been convicted of anything – ripped papers out of his home, his office . . . came in with a bunch of FBI agents acting like thugs, taking whatever they wanted, not explaining themselves, removing computers, and any other thing they think they might have a use for.
Corsi said, "I think the American people need to be outraged – and are outraged. I think that this is a complete disgrace for us as a nation in terms of our rule of law."
He added: "'Killing the Deep State' now is imperative for people to read because you'll see the danger, you'll see how close we are to losing our Constitutional Republic."
