Democracy, many of us have been taught, is the best form of government in the civilized world. We were told that it was something worth fighting for and dying to preserve and to spread. During the Vietnam Conflict, we American “baby boomers” were told that our brothers were coming home in body bags “to stop the spread of communism and to spread democracy” in Southeast Asia.

I was nearing adulthood in the mid-60s, having graduated from high school in ’65 and getting ready for college. I studied Civics, Government and how to debate current events in high school, and chose to further my education in political studies. I was bouncing many conflicts around in my head about governments and wanted to try to resolve some of my conflicts. I understood why our Founders created the Bill of Rights. I understood that all ten of those Amendments were designed to protect INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. But, there were so many conflicts in the government. During the 60s, I wondered why it was so important to “spread democracy” in other countries, let alone our own country, when democracy, to my understanding, was just the opposite of individual rights. Why was this mob-rule form of government in America more important than our individual rights, when our Founding Fathers were so concerned about the latter? After all, individual rights were God-given, natural rights that seemed far more superior to mob-rule. With individual rights, no one could ever be victimized by mob-rule.

I didn’t know it at the time, but I was about to embark on a lifelong mission of trying to understand my own government, what made it tick and how I could make a difference for the better. I was about to spend the next 5+ decades learning just how corrupt governments can, and usually DO, become. I soon began to attribute the loss of FREEDOM in America to Human Nature 101. If you know me from Facebook and/or Twitter, no doubt, you’ve heard me repeat it many times. Observing human conduct throughout history was my focus over the years. In other words, whatever crimes humans could contrive against other humans, inevitably, they will. Because of their HUMAN NATURE to control others, it should be expected. Why else do so many people, with few exceptions, run for office?

At 72, it no longer matters to me what we call our American form of government; whether it’s framed as a "democracy", a "republic" or a "democratic republic". What matters more is the effect that any form has on each and every one of us. It’s crucial that we have a thorough understanding of the system we choose to govern us … or, IF we choose ANY form at all. I’ve learned, mostly through life’s experiences, that we should fully understand the consequences of our choices, because those choices affect the lives of our brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters, etc. The belief that others don’t have that same basic individual right as we have is arrogant, at the very least. The belief that the choices of others are less worthy than our own is also arrogance … at the highest level.

As I’ve said, democracy is mob-rule, in a nutshell. A republic, on the other hand, elects a group of representatives, via mob-rule. Those elected representatives then use another form of mob-rule to rule over us by creating laws and enforcing those laws. That’s why our form of government is referred to as a “democratic republic”. No matter what we call it, the bottom line is that WE, the PEOPLE, are controlled by mob-rule and far-too-often authoritarian government. The term “of the people, by the people and for the people” actually means “of the mob, by the mob, and for the mob”. Agreed, it’s a concept superior to a dictatorship. But, it can also be argued that mob-rule is also a form of dictatorship.

Our Founders created the Bill of Rights because a few of them understood the importance of INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. They felt that the Constitution didn’t enumerate enough protections for the individual rights with which WE ARE BORN. Simply placing limits on central government wasn’t enough, they argued. The Anti-Federalists didn’t want a central government to exercise too much power over THE PEOPLE.

But, in our “democratic republic, doesn’t the will of the minority become non-existent? What happens to THEIR individual rights when the mob rules over them? As time passes, our basic Constitutional rights become more and more obscure. It’s a good thing the Bill of Rights was created because our central government has transgressed over their limited power that was enumerated in the Constitution. At the very least, the Bill of Rights has given us more time to react to the erosion of our FREEDOM. But, time might be running out to save it. It’s increasingly more evident that the Bill of Rights dangerously balances on the edge of a precipice. It’s at risk of falling off the cliff at the will of an arrogant central government, along with local governments that often fall in line with the central government. Throughout history, cowardly state governments have relinquished our individual rights to the central government with nary a whimper from FREEDOM-LOVING people.

In recent years, a narcissistic bureaucracy has rooted itself in our government that refuses to relinquish power. We call it the Deep State. Some in that bureaucracy have deemed themselves to be the intellects of the people and the controllers of government. Their behavior refuses to recognize that they are the servants of THE PEOPLE … not the reverse. There’s enough blame to go around, but suffice it to say that most of it can be placed at the feet of elected, or rigged, narcissists. Human Nature 101 in full gear!

While the First Ten Amendments are written in a language that is repeatedly misconstrued for political expediency, it’s clear in their writings (Anti-Federalist Papers) that the Anti-Federalists created the Bill of Rights for the purpose of safeguarding our individual rights … NOT collective rights. But, that doesn’t stop the debate from continuing to this day. For instance, haven’t you wondered how many more times SCOTUS will rule on our INDIVIDUAL right to bear arms (the Second Amendment)? If the Deep State within our government gets their way, they will continue to challenge that right until SCOTUS rules in their favor. They need that ruling to disarm the people.

That, my Friends, could happen anytime in the future. Remember, even SCOTUS rules by a majority vote. And, if the tyrants in central government get to pack the SCOTUS with their Constitution-shredding justices, our FREEDOMS will become much more volatile than ever before in our country. When questioned what kind of government the Founders had formed, Ben Franklin responded, “A Republic, madam if you can keep it.” That response has been ringing in my ears for decades. No, this Republic wasn’t fully understood by many at the time. But, how many people understand it today? How many would choose a Republic, or a different system, if they truly understood the potential consequences of their choices? How many people understand the significance of a justice system that regulates from the bench?

If you’re one of those Americans who believes that “some laws are necessary” here or there … to maintain order in our society, I wonder who you believe should make those laws … the elected mob … the popular mob? Who decides which laws are compatible with the Constitution and our Bill of Rights? Are those laws compatible with our natural rights? Have you considered whether or not those laws are in violation of the Constitutional LIMITS on the central government? Do you recognize that even local governments, as well as their enforcers, have a responsibility to safeguard our Constitutional rights? Even the laws that balance precipitously on the fence of Constitutionality will eventually slide down that “slippery slope” to outright violations of our rights. Don’t fall into the false security that the Constitution will protect us merely by its creation. It won’t always, and it hasn’t always. We can’t sit back and ignore the slippery slope of tyranny.

ENTER: Donald J. Trump. He wasn’t elected because his supporters believe him to be a deity or a perfect leader (although, I won’t argue that he might have been God-sent!). The election of Donald Trump is not a DONE-DEAL. It was meant to upset the carefully-planned agenda of the elitist tyrants of the New World Order and our corrupt government. His election is only the BEGINNING. He won the election because WE, THE PEOPLE, are at the end of our rope. It was time to shake things up.

I believe that the election of 2016 was bound to happen sooner or later. We’ve tried just about everything imaginable to get government off our backs, to no avail. The Democrats and the RINOs (Republicans in name only) have forsaken us. We’re sick and tired of being victims of global enslavement … the mob-rule that always wants something, or everything, for nothing. Yes, folks … it’s HUMAN NATURE 101. While it is hoped that President Trump will continue to bring us closer to TRUE FREEDOM, we DO understand that we’re still a far cry from that goal; especially, in light of the fact that the Deep State is so deeply rooted in the central government … the SWAMP. They have every intention of usurping POTUS’ Constitutional authority at every turn. Suffice it to say that he’s still learning. Yes, mistakes are made. Yet, it still amazes me that he’s accomplished as much as he has. Or, am I living in another dimension?

Tyranny does not reverse itself. It forcefully continues down that slippery slope to full-blown authoritarianism ... absolute control over THE PEOPLE … using every tool available in their arsenal. When/if authoritarians win in their final battle to dissolve the Bill of Rights, even mob-rule won’t matter anymore. Unless WE, you and I, decide to abolish oppressive rule over us, EN MASSE, we will not succeed in acquiring TRUE FREEDOM that we ALL deserve in our lifetime. The only kind of mob-rule that’s useful in a civilized society is the kind that demands FREEDOM. ~ Tori Higgs
