Why we published this Book: American School children and college students today are being subjected to what we call the “Liberal History Lesson.” ...which goes something like this:

America, say liberals, was a product of the enlightenment which was a rejection of Christianity. America, say liberals, was founded primarily by deists, not by Christians. The Constitution, say liberals, and particularly the First Amendment to the constitution erects a so called “wall of separation between church and state” that can not and must not be transgressed in any way. Moreover, say liberals, the government can not in any way support or favor religious faith. This philosophy, this misreading of American History; this mistaken interpretation of our Constitution has led to a relentless assault on America’s religious institutions and traditions by our educational system, the courts and throughout our popular culture. This little Booklet, “One Nation Under God” corrects the “Liberal History Lesson” and provides a powerful refutation to court rulings banning prayer from public schools; prohibiting the “Ten Commandments” from being posted in government buildings; outlawing nativity scenes, and other religious displays from public places.

Series 2: Defense of Truth #6) The Continental Congress:

The original 13 colonies (of what would become the United States of America) was established to resist the unfair tax practices and tyrannical laws and policies imposed on the colonies by Great Britain. On September 6,1774, less than two years before the colonies formally declared independence from Great Britain, the Continental Congress made its first official Act a call for Prayer. And on May 16,1776, the Continental Congress appointed an official national day of fasting and prayer for the colonies: Document: “The Congress, desirous to have people of all ranks and degrees daily impressed with a solemn sense of God’s Superintending Providence, and of their duty to devoutly rely on His aid and direction do earnestly recommend Friday, the seventeenth day of May be observed by the colonies as a day of humiliation, fasting and prayer, that we may with united hearts, confess and bewail our manifold sins and transgressions, and by sincere repentance and amendment of life appease God’s righteous displeasure and through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ obtain His pardon and forgiveness.  #7) Twenty Thousand Bibles for Troops:


The Continental Congress on September 11,1777, ordered the importation of 20,000 Bibles for American troops. The law read as follows: “The use of the Bible is so universal and its importance is so great that your committee refers the above to the consideration of Congress and if Congress shall not think it is expedient to order the importation of types and paper the committee recommends that Congress will order the Committee of Commerce to import 20,000 Bibles from Holland, Scotland, or elsewhere into the different parts of the States of the Union!” Whereupon it was resolved accordingly to direct said Committee of Commerce to import 20,000 copies of the Bible. Indeed, the Congress authorized the endorsement to be printed on the front page of the edition for the Bible approved for the American People. “Whereupon resolved that the United States in Congress assembled recommended this edition of the Bible to the inhabitants of the United States and hereby authorize Robert Aitken to publish this recommendation in a manner he shall think proper.” (to be continued) A Day of Thanks Giving and Prayer:

  #8) Day of Thanks Giving and Prayer: 


The Continental Congress on October 18,1780 issued another Proclamation for a Day of Thanks Giving and Prayer: “Whereas it has pleased Almighty God, the Father of all mercies, amidst the calamities of war to bestow blessings upon the people of these United States which calls for their devout and thankful acknowledgements, more especially in the late remarkable interposition of His watchful Providence, in the rescuing the person of our Commander -in-Chief, and the army from imminent dangers at the moment when treason was ripened for execution. It is therefore recommended to the several states ...a day of public thanks giving and prayer...that all people may assemble on that day, celebrate the praises of our divine Benefactor, to confess our unworthiness of the least of His favors, and to offer our fervent supplication to the God of all Grace...to cause the knowledge of Christianity to spread over all the earth.” (to be continued) Chaplain of the Senate:

 #9) Chaplain of the Senate:

On July 13,1787, the Continental Congress passed an ordinance for the government of the Territories of the United States. This law was passed again by the United states Congress and passed into law by President George Washington on August 4,1789. “Article 111: Religion, morality, and knowledge being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall be forever encouraged.” When the War of Independence drew to a close the Continental Congress became the Congress of the United States of America. On May 1,1789, the US House of Representatives voted to elect Reverend William Linn, a Dutch Reformed minister as its chaplain. In addition the Congress appropriated $500.00 from the federal treasury to pay his salary. The Right Reverend Bishop Samuel Provost was elected to be the chaplain of the Senate and was also paid from the federal treasury. Both the House and the Senate today to open each session with prayer. (1997) So much for the inviolate “wall of separation of church and state!” Anti christian organizations as ACLU falsely claim this.  #10) Congressional Approval of National Thanks Giving:


Indeed, on September 25, 1789, Congress unanimously approved a resolution asking President George Washington to Proclaim a National Day of Thanks Giving. “Day of Thanks Giving. resolved that a joint committee that both houses be directed to wait on the President of the United States to request that he recommend to the people of the United States a day of Public Thanks Giving and Prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts, the many signal favors of Almighty God. Especially, by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a Constitution of government for their safety and happiness.
