Gordon V. Drake holds a doctorate in higher education and administration from the University of Denver and a Masters Degree from the Northern University of Arizona. Dr. drake’s articles on education have appeared in various national magazines. As a teacher and administrator Dr. Drake served on the faculties of the Universities of Denver, Wisconsin State University and as Dean of Shelton College. In 1964 he won an award from the Commission of the American Legion for his teaching of American History. Since January of 1968 Dr. Drake has associated with Dr. Billy James Hargis and the Christian Crusade Headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. #21 My personal Testimony:

I first realized my kids were being brain washed by the National Education Curriculum in 1974 when I was listening to a radio program out of Baltimore, Maryland , called “In Defense of Truth” by Reverend John Dekker. We had four children attending public school. Three were in high school. I remember on that day that we had a wood stove heating the big rooom and a big dining room table. a paper back book was laying on the table. I picked it up after I heard Pastor Dekker say there is a book in public school libraries nation wide titled “Bless the beasts and the Children.” I thumbed through the pages and there were filthy words in that book. The whole theme was about a gang of children running away from home together because they were tired of being dominated and wanted to be free. I was shocked at one paragraph which said, “Once you are away from your parents and you want to urinate(didn’t say urinate though) you can do it wherever you want. I told the kids that I am burning this filthy book. I opened the stove door ready to pitch it when my daughter started screaming, “It is my English Book. I’ll be in trouble for telling you. I promised!” I did give the book back to her but I let my Representative handle it. I knew it was not the fault of the school or teachers but The National Education association was at fault. It was taken out of our local area and I did receive a letter thanking me for drawing it to their attention. 

#22 The Hatch Amendment:

PL Sturgis: Many teachers had refused to teach this national curriculum and were fired. Many went on strike but the media was silent. Even the court cases were not reported. I had learned later after my experience with the book “Bless the Beasts and the Children” that parents and teachers through many cities had protested against this curriculum and a bill had already passed through congress titled “The Hatch Amendment” submitted by Orrin Hatch, to disallow this psychological therapy. It had to be reinstated in 1984 and signed by President Reagan. ---- I was among the second group of parents who fought back against this sensitivity training. Just thank the Lord for Top Educators like Dr. Gordon V. Drake, Senators like Orrin Hatch and Presidents like President Reagan. Sadly, this same evil training seems to be subtly sneaking back into public schools nationally. PL Sturgis: 

#23 Brainwashing seen as Character Building:

Peter Vaughn, staff writer of Minneapolis Star News, writes: “It’s the duty of society to install a set of values in ghetto youths, even if it is by brain washing.” A Michigan State University professor said: “We have the power to erase and overwrite what is in their minds. It can be used for good or evil.” The National Education Association has been the prime mover behind innovation and experimentation in school curriculum and teaching methods. Innovation means change but not necessarily improvement. Progressive education techniques, such as the highly inadequate “look and see” reading method have had devastating results. In fact, many educators are now turning back to time proven phonics. Although the National Education Association has been instrumental in developing innovative sensitivity techniques during the last 20 years, through its National Training Laboratories, only in recent years (1970) has it taken hold in large part. The Federal Government can be credited with this growth through its financial aid to educational programs.

#24 Change Agents:

Today there is a proliferation of seminars and laboratory sessions sponsored by the National Training Laboratories Institute and teacher training institutions in which “change agents” (college student faculty teams) educational leaders and teachers are trained. there are also sessions for children, teens, and families. In 1968 the University of Florida secured funds from the US Office of Education to create at Bethel, Maine, a NDEA Institute utilizing the various training programs in an integrated program. Colleges of education were involved and they sent teams of teachers to participate in “core experiences” including value confrontation and exploration and opportunities for self discovery and identity development and the integration of the thinking, feeling, valuing and acting aspects of self. In other words it was to undergo “Sensitivity Training!” 

#25 Education Profession Development Act of 1965:
The Bethel NTL Institute in the state of Maine reports that a four year continuation proposal has been submitted to the US Office of Education under the Education Profession Development Act: Federal Funds and grants are also used to initiate county wide curriculum studies in which innovative solutions are proposed. For example, Baton rouge, Louisiana (1969) is in the midst of such a three year federally funded study. Of course, local resistance is great. School bond issues have been threatened because of the turmoil. Another instance of federal involvement is the project titled “Search” Searching for educational achievement reaching communities and homes. Project Search is a federally funded program authorized under title 3 of the Elementary and Secondary Educational Act of 1965: A law passed by congress to provide local educational agencies with funds to participate actively in education innovations (new methods) This is a three year program that began its operation in September 1967. the project “Search” uses Sensitivity Training. It encounters groups as the main feature in teaching communication skills to children in public schools for new methods.
