The job of the SCOTUS is to interpret the Founder’s original intent and then apply that original intent to the situation at hand. The only reason it has been made so complicated is that we are too cowardly to face the implications of that application and too lazy to enforce them.
One example: Abortion. Easy peasy. Thou shall not kill [ or murder [ for the fuzzy Christians out there ] Killing people who required killing was not a problem for God.
See how simple? But NOOOOOO. We have to discuss when does the baby has a brain, a nervous system, a heart, when does it start beating, when can the baby feel pain. We even have some lunatics that believe a newborn is not human until they take their first breath, because Adam was not alive until God breathed into Adam. Wow right?
And now a Fun fact: There is a federal law that fines you tens of thousands of dollars for tampering with a nest of the bald eagle. Why? I wonder what she thought As she stood there, strong and tall. She couldn't turn away, She was forced to watch it all. Did she long to offer comfort As her country bled? With her arm forever frozen High above her head. She could not shield her eyes, She could not hide her face She just stared across the water Keeping Freedom's place. The smell of smoke and terror Somehow reduced her size So small within the harbor But still, we recognized... How dignified and beautiful On a day so many died I wonder what she thought, And I know she must have cried.
