Moderate Democrats Are Breaking Away From The Left Wing :Infuriated House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Rebellion By Moderate Democrats Infuriates Left

Not since those dark days of Watergate — when a besieged John Dean admitted publicly that the President had compiled a “Political Enemies List” — have we seen a political environment like the one we have today.

The official purpose of the list by the White House Counsel’s Office was to “SCREW” Nixon’s political enemies.

Fast forward to today, and in the United States House of Representatives, more than two dozen moderate Democrats have broken away from their party’s radical leftist wing.

Recently, with a spirit of bipartisanship, many crossed the aisle siding with Republicans on a legislative amendment — to the dismay of radical socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who openly threatened her Democratic colleagues behind a closed-door meeting the following day.

In a stunning, unprecedented threat by a freshman politician, AOC arrogantly warned fellow Democrats they risk “putting themselves on a list.”

The dust-up occurred during a debate regarding a piece of legislation that would expand federal background checks for gun purchases, and also provide a key provision that would notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), concerning “ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS” attempting to purchase guns.

That logical, common-sense legislation drew 26 moderate Democrats into the Republican camp, which ignited a firestorm within the leadership and among committed members of the extremist wing of the party, most notably from the freshmen congresswoman from New York City.

According to the Washington Post, the insurgency by moderate Democrats infuriated House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, admonishing her independent thinking colleagues, that “We are either a team or we’re not, and we have to make that decision.”

However, the 29-year old upstart from New York’s 14-District, went a step further threatening her moderate colleagues with expulsion, by mounting an aggressive campaign along with progressive activists seeking to unseat those moderate Democrats in the upcoming 2020 election.

Her spokesman Corbin Trent told the paper that she made the “list” comment during the meeting.

Adding, “She said that when activists ask her why she had to vote for a gun safety bill that also further empowers an agency that forcibly injects kids with psychotropic drugs, they’re going to want a list of names and she’s going to give it to them.”

This infighting by Democrats has finally spilled out into the open, revealing a wide fracture among dozens of moderate and progressive freshmen legislators elected within their respective districts during the midterm election.

Moderates elected to districts that President Trump won in 2016, realize their constituency expects them to vote on the merits of the issues and not simply party line, which stands in sharp contrast to Pelosi’s lock-step political tactics of obstruction.

However the most significant division within the Party may not actually be between the extreme left and moderates, but rather between Pelosi and her top lieutenants, namely Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (Md.) and Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (S.C.), over the party strategy, and how best to keep their newfound majority intact going into 2020.

Republicans see the divide, as a win, win situation, hoping to capitalize on the widening fracture thanks in part to outspoken bomb-throwers like AOC, antagonize moderates, hoping that her threats will further drive them away from the Democratic far left base, towards Republicans.

In the coming months, legislators will vote on the pressing issues of health care, the environment, and spending bills could cause more extreme breaks within the Democratic ranks.

While the mainstream media gives disproportionate air-time to an extremist like AOC, they ignore the bigger underline story right under their collective noses, the ever-widening gap that exists within the Democratic Party that may actually reverse the 2018 midterm elections, and return the majority in the House back to Republicans in 2020.

Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-Fla.), a co-chairman of the moderate Blue Dog Coalition said recently, “It’s this class of members that got elected that are the reason we have the majority.”

Adding, “Many of them come from these [moderate districts, and their promise to their constituents was that they were going to put people over politics.”
