I attended this one meeting Monday and picked up this brochure. I copied it word for word and hope it can be useful if others will share it. Consumers:
The office of Consumer Advocate (OCA) is a state agency that represents the interests of Pennsylvania Utility Consumers. The OCA was created by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 1976 and is an independent office within the office of the Attorney General. We encourage you to contact the OCA with questions or problems regarding your electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water, or wastewater service. The OCA staff will respond by providing information or helping to resolve your complaints. OCA is committed to advocating for the interests of Pennsylvania consumers and to keeping consumers informed about their utility service. The OCA seeks to ensure that consumers receive safe and adequate utility service at reasonable prices. We represent consumers in cases involving a wide range of utility issues before the PA Public Utility Commission, other state and federal regulatory agencies and state and federal courts. The OCA is involved in rate cases, merge proceedings. investigations, and rulemakings that involve either the price you pay for utility service or the quality of service that you receive. Laws and policies concerning utility service are changing rapidly. The OCA is your voice in policy debates and our goal is to ensure that consumers benefit from these changes.
Consumer Education:
The Office of Consumer Advocate (OCA) participates in Public Forums, seminars, and community meetings to educate consumers on current utility issues. If your group or organization is interested in hearing about any utility issues please contact our office.
